Inter Miami star says he is 'not satisfied' after beating club record before Lionel Messi

Inter Miami have been breaking records left right and center this season, in large part to the genius of Lionel Messi.

The Argentine international, when fit and in form, has been a one-man wrecking ball for Inter Miami, with Messi single-handily dragging the Herons across the finish line in some games due to his brilliance on the pitch.

However, the main lesson this year regarding Inter Miami has been that the squad as a collective have been arguably as impressive as Messi, with Leonardo Campana summarizing this well by becoming the club’s all-time goalscorer this season.

Yet even after beating Messi to this record, Campana still isn’t pleased with what he has achieved.

Campana eager to push Messi for Inter Miami’s goal record

Speaking to AS, the Ecuador international shared how he is ‘not satisfied’ yet with his achievements yet at Inter Miami despite this year beating Gonzalo Higuain to the all-time record for the Herons.

With Messi and Luis Suarez creeping up behind Campana, the former Wolves man seems intent on adding to his overall tally by as many goals as possible, with the Inter Miami striker seemingly as driven as ever to succeed.

Campana said when asked about becoming Inter Miami’s all-time leading goalscorer earlier this season: “It’s definitely something nice, very exciting, but I’m not satisfied with that. My family asked me.

“They’re all excited about what I’ve achieved, but deep inside I know that I have so much more to give and that I’m ready for much bigger things. It’s a question of continuing to work hard, getting more playing time, and hopefully that record can be tripled.”

Campana’s mentality is exactly what the Herons should want

Campana becoming the player to surpass Higuain at the top of Inter Miami’s goalscoring charts has been a shock, to say the least, yet the 24-year-old reaching the milestone and his subsequent reaction is nothing short of perfect for the Herons.

The former Wolves man knows he will never reach the levels of quality Messi and Suarez have produced in their careers, yet Campana’s drive to succeed and to push himself is something that wouldn’t look out of place amongst the best players in the world.

And for Inter Miami, Campana’s mentality to become the very best version of himself is admirable, with the Herons lucky to have a player like the Ecuador international who wants to deliver no matter the circumstances.
