Luis Suarez was Inter Miami’s big signing of 2024, and it’s safe to say that the former FC Barcelona superstar has been a success in Florida.
The former Uruguay international has bagged an impressive 24 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, with Suarez playing a pivotal role for Inter Miami in their Supporters’ Shield win and in setting a new regular-season MLS points record.
With Leonardo Campana sharing that he loves watching Suarez in Inter Miami training, the 37-year-old attacker has made quite the impact at Chase Stadium since reuniting with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
And Suarez has now revealed if he wants to stay at Inter Miami beyond this season.

Suarez says Inter Miami contract talks are underway
Speaking to the press after Inter Miami’s historic win against the New England Revolution, Suarez revealed that talks are ongoing with his agent and the Herons on a new contract, with the striker keen to stay for another year.
Reports had suggested that Inter Miami wanted to open contract talks with Suarez after the striker announced his international retirement with Uruguay earlier this year, with the forward only signing a one-year deal with the Florida franchise in January.
And Suarez seems keen to remain at Inter Miami for at least one more year, with the striker saying when asked about his contract: “It’s up to the club. For me, I would be delighted. My agent is talking to the club, but I have a calm mind.
“I am going to finish the season in the best possible way, which is what I wanted, and to show the club that one comes with desire, feels good physically, and with the hope to continue being part of the history of this club.”

Suarez will want to play at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup
With Inter Miami confirmed as participants in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, it makes complete sense why Suarez is eager to play at least one more year with the Herons.
As the striker’s stats below show, the 37-year-old attacker has been in top form this year with Inter Miami in both MLS and in continental competitions against Mexican sides, with the CONCACAF Champions Cup a priority for 2025.

MLS | 27 | 20 | 9 |
CONCACAF Champions Cup | 4 | 2 | 2 |

And at the Club World Cup, Suarez will want to show how good he still is whilst also proving that Inter Miami can compete with the best in the game, with the Herons a side everyone will want to play against.
