David Beckham is on the lookout for a new manager at Inter Miami after Tata Martino resigned.
The Argentine has decided to step down from his role as Head Coach at the Chase Stadium for personal reasons, leaving Lionel Messi and his teammates managerless after winning the MLS Supporters’ Shield.
A story from Mundo Deportivo claimed that Inter Miami are considering Xavi to replace Tata Martino – with the Spaniard currently unemployed after leaving Barcelona at the end of last season.
The Spanish news outlet added that Inter Miami also admire Javier Mascherano – who currently manages the Argentina U20 side.
Despite links to the Argentine, it was Xavi who many considered the favourite – although Guillem Balague has now poured cold water on these rumours.
Guillem Balague says Xavi has no intention of managing Inter Miami
The Spanish football expert and journalist has now provided an update on Xavi.
Writing on X (previously known as Twitter), Balague stated: “Xavi continues with his plan: sabbatical year and then an European club for his next job. His dream would be to manage in the Premier League.
“He doesn’t intent to join Messi at Inter Miami. In any case the MLS club has been looking for a different profile of manager.”
So, not only does Xavi hold no interest in the role, but Balague interestingly states that Beckham is looking for a “different profile” to manage Inter Miami – squashing the rumours completely.
Javier Mascherano has a competitor in Sylvinho
Mascherano is incredibly close with Messi – and has praised his fellow countryman heavily on several occasions.
Therefore, we would imagine the 40-year-old would love to replace Martino, although he has competition for the vacancy.

The aforementioned story from Mundo Deportivo adds that Sylvinho is an option for Inter Miami as well as Mascherano, after the Brazilian impressed in his role managing the Albania National Team.
Therefore, Balague’s update on Xavi does not mean Mascherano has a free run at the job by any means whatsoever.
