Inter Miami’s transfer plans are underway, as Javier Mascherano starts to shape his squad ahead of the 2025 season.

The Herons have already secured the signing of Fafa Picault, meanwhile, Tadeo Allende looks set to join Inter Miami in the coming days.

Mascherano and co however are still looking for more it seems, with a whole host of names being linked with a move to the Chase Stadium – the latest of which being former Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.

Currently plying his trade in Spain, Rodriguez is reportedly willing to terminate his Rayo Vallecano deal – with a possible Vice City move on the cards.

With that being said though, Inter Miami fans do not seem keen on the transfer.

Inter Miami fans call for club to avoid James Rodriguez signing

Inter Miami were interested in signing Rodriguez before his Rayo Vallecano move in August 2024 – so it is no surprise to see those links resurface.

Whether Miami should actually make a play for the Columbian is another question entirely though, with many supporters claiming Rodriguez would not be worthwhile for Mascherano’s side.

Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), one fan said:

“He is a fantastic player. But I don’t see how Messi and him can play together. Just like Dybala, Scaloni knows not to start them both.”

A third fan stated: “We need more defenders than midfielders.”

“Big no no. Great player. Not for inter Miami,” said another supporter.

Stats suggest Rodriguez would not be worthwhile signing for Inter Miami

Having previously plied his trade for the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, many have thought Miami fans would have jumped at the chance to sign the 33-year-old.

Rodriguez’s career post Madrid however has flattered deceive when you have a look at his stats.

Despite enjoying a small resurgence at Everton under Carlo Ancelotti, Rodriguez has since failed to string together a consistent run of form – spending no more than a season and a half at any club.

With this, this mind, Inter Miami would probably be better off finding a more long-term option in midfield – especially after Diego Gomez’s departure to Brighton.
