Inter Miami’s new signing Fafa Picault has wasted no time in highlighting his worth to Javier Mascherano’s project ahead of the new MLS season.

Picault became Mascherano’s first signing and his experience of the MLS will greatly aid Inter Miami’s MLS Cup push.

The Haitian international is a huge fan of Sergio Busquets and will not have the pleasure of playing alongside the former Barcelona star.

While Picault is excited to play with Busquets, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez he also believes he has a great amount to offer the team.

Picault promises two major things with Inter Miami

The 33-year-old winger has played for five MLS clubs since 2017, most recently spending a season with the Vancouver Whitecaps where he impressed.

Picault played 40 games last season for the Whitecaps in all competitions where he scored 10 goals and added eight assists.

Inter Miami have been screaming out for some goalscoring additions to the team to help lift the pressure on Suarez and Messi who both scored 20 MLS goals last season.

The Herons have signed Celta Vigo striker Tadeo Allende on loan, the striker will look to hit the ground running alongside Picault.

Although Picault is now into his thirties he possesses great pace and has promised to make a mark in two key areas on the Inter Miami side, he told GOAL: “I’m assuming the same as always. Just on the wings, and, using what I do, to stretch out defenses and be creative off the wing. But also work hard, which is kind of what I’ve always done to help teams win.

Picault will be looking to impress in Inter Miami’s pre-season games which get underway against Club America on Saturday, January 18th.

It is unknown if Lionel Messi will play a part meaning Picault will likely get considerable game time on his unofficial Inter Miami debut.

Picault highlights Inter Miami’s season ambitions

While new manager Mascherano played down Inter Miami’s chances of becoming MLS Champions the message hasn’t reached Picault.

Picault is yet to win a major honor in the US and will be hoping that he can help Inter Miami change that.

Speaking on the Herons’ objectives for the season Picault said: “I think again, just do better than last year. I think that’s always the objective. And if they were to win it last year, I think the goal would have been to try to win it again. That’s what football is: always trying to win. It’s an ambitious club, and I think the objectives are to do great this year.”

Picault has certainly enjoyed his early stages with Inter Miami and spoke out about his enjoyment of training with Messi.

He will soon be able to take to the field with the Argentine when Inter Miami take on New York City FC in their opening MLS game of 2025.
